Estate sales in Grand Rapids, MI

Estate sales in Grand Rapids often start earlier in the week than you might expect. Thursday is the most common first day here, with Friday close behind, and most sales run two or three days. Doors usually open at 9 a.m., sometimes 10 a.m. If you can slip out on a Thursday morning, you'll get an early look at the week's sales.

Around the city, recent sales have been in Grandville, Jenison, Byron Center, Belmont, Allendale and Marne. Head toward the lakeshore and you'll find Holland and Muskegon. To the south, sales turn up in Portage, Plainwell, Paw Paw, Gobles and Battle Creek, and to the east, in Lansing, Charlotte and Stanton. It's a big area, so pick a direction for the day.

When you're looking through estate sales this weekend and find several things you like at one house, ask politely whether there's a price for the group. Bundling a lamp, a side table and a box of kitchenware is an easy conversation, and staff are often happy to make a deal that clears more of the house. Smaller bills and a tote bag make the checkout part quick.
